in the cacophony...

i wonder at times...about you.

sitting on the other side of the screen.

as the sounds of deigo and pop-corn squabbles and baby-boy babbling-when-he- should- really-be- napping fills my ears...

i wonder what sounds fill your own.

is it quiet,

or too loud?

are they happy sounds,

or the memories of them?

is coffee brewing in the kitchen,

or is there a storm on the horizon that you know nothing about?

are you safe, secure and content,

or does your life feel like it's continually in a state of upheaval and chaos?

i thought, foolishly or not, that once we left our pain physically behind, the chaos would cease.

and peace would flow...

instead, He is determined to prove Himself as the One who truly does know.

and as i battle through sleepless nights and the days when i fail as a mama and a wife, i wonder about you.

you, who are precious and dearly loved by an Almighty God Who longs to show you that He knows for you, too.

He knows the next step,

the next decision,

the next email,

phone call,

unexpected visit.

He knows...

and He can use it all for a purpose that is good.

that brings Him glory.

despite the pain and hurt you feel right now.

the cacophony of silence or of noise may surround you in this moment.  it may try to deafen out His tender Voice that is persistent in His proclamations over you...

but listen past it all.

listen for Him.

He loves you so...

The Lord your God is in your midst,

a mighty one who will save;
he will rejoice over you with gladness;
he will quiet you by his love;
he will exult over you with loud singing.
  I will gather those of you who mourn for the festival,
so that you will no longer suffer reproach.
  Behold, at that time I will deal
with all your oppressors.
And I will save the lame
and gather the outcast,
and I will change their shame into praise
and renown in all the earth.
  At that time I will bring you in,
at the time when I gather you together;
for I will make you renowned and praised
among all the peoples of the earth,
when I restore your fortunes
before your eyes," says the Lord.
